Professor Wole Soyinka Loses 48-Year Old Daughter

Professor Wole Soyinka today lost one of his daughters. Iyetade who was born in 1965 died today at UCH hospital in Ibadan where she was been treated for an undisclosed ailment. She was 48. 

She left behind two children, her parents and siblings. May her soul rest in peace. 

Battered pregnant woman: Lebanese boss arrested

The Lebanese boss who allegedly beat up a pregnant factory worker, causing her to lose her 7-months pregnancy, has been arrested by the Nigerian police. Kaveh Noine, a manager with Toppan Printing Company located in Ikeja Industrial Estate, was arrested yesterday Friday December 27th in Kano where he fled to and was brought back to Lagos to face justice.

A pic of the woman who lost her pregnancy, Alexandra Ossai, above. She confirmed that Mr Noine had assaulted her several times during her short stay at the company and indeed kicked her in the stomach few days before she lost her pregnancy. Alexandra also said the Lebanese manager was in the habit of physically assaulting other workers whenever he felt they stepped out of line.

Not only will Mr Noine face justice for what he did to Alexandra, but the Lagos State government via the Lagos State Public Advice Centre, also wants to bring other assault charges against him. They plan to visit the company and talk with other workers and find out if more people were abused by him.

Jonathan orders investigation of Lebanese employer that abused pregnant worker

Thank God for social media. Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan is shocked by reports of pregnant Nigerian worker losing baby after being beaten up by her Lebanese employers. The President has therefore ordered the Law enforcement agencies including the Police, Ministers-Interior, Labour, Women Health and the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, NHRC, to investigate the matter and recommend appropriate sanctions and remedial action.

Lebanese Beats Up Pregnant Factory Worker In Lagos - She Lost The 7 Month Pregnancy!

This is sad, really sad. Workers in a Lagos based packaging and printing company, Toppan Packaging Company Limited located on Ladipo Oluwole in Ikeja Industrial Estate could not believe what they witnessed on Friday the 13th December 2013.

When the shift manager, a Lebanese Kaveh Noine beat up the Cleaning Unit Supervisor Mrs. Alice Ossai in their presence, due to what he deemed negligence on her part, his grouse, a portion of the factory is littered with dirt and she failed in her responsibility to rein in her team to keep the factory floor spick and span.

Frantic efforts by Ossai to explain why the portion of the factory was littered with dirt, even after she was assaulted was rebuffed by Noine who shouted her down and asked her to come with him to his office fuming with rage; exasperated staff members on duty went in with Ossai in a bid to collectively explain the supposed duty breach. Noine rained blows on Ossai and kicking her repeatedly, without sparing her tummy even though she was seven months pregnant.

Deeper Life Kumuyi says Christmas is idolatrous

The General Overseer of The Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F Kumuyi warned his church members during their annual National December Convention which held on Saturday Dec 21st, against celebrating Christmas, because according to him it is idolatrous and unscriptural.

Kumuyi said;

“We don’t celebrate Christmas. It actually came from idolatrous background. That is why you don’t hear us sing what they call Christmas carol, Never! We always say it is the December retreat. We are only gathering together because it is the holiday period and love the lord more, and rededicate ourselves more.

“When you find anybody coming in, or any leader, trying to introduce the idolatry of mystery Babylon, that they call Christmas and you want to bring all the Christmas carol saying that is the day that Jesus was born, and you don’t find that in the Acts of the Apostles or in the early church, then you don’t find that in the church either.  If you don’t know that before, now you know.

Is he trying to say Christ wasn't born or he didn't come into the world to save us? Who else agrees with his view?

I must confess I couldn't stop smiling while watching this video. So the staff of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2 thrilled their travelers to the first ever flash mob in any airport in Nigeria. It was a mix of professional dancers, cleaning company staff and the Bi-Courtney Aviation Services employees. Very impressive. 19 year-old undergraduate wins ‘Next Movie Star Africa Reloaded’

Feyisekemi Akinwale, an Ondo State native, has been adjudged winner of the 2013 Next Movie Star Africa Reloaded edition. The 19-year-old beat eight other finalists (including three other Nigerians) to win the eight edition of the reality television show.

Akinwale walks away with a brand new SUV, cash prize and promised movie roles. 

‘I wasn’t expecting this at all. I just threw myself into the show believing that God’s will shall be done. Now, God’s will has been done. I am just too excited to say much now’, Akinwale says. Congrats to her. See more pictures below. 

'I was forced to pay a godfather N10m monthly as governor ' - Mbadinuju

Former Anambra state governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju (1999 to 2003) tells Saturday Punch:

Well, a godfather has many connotations. You could have  positive godfathers and negative ones. The good ones work towards making things work and succeed but if you have a godfather that is always challenging, he wants to make appointments, if you have 10 commissioners, he would want to have three or four. After you have given him two commissioners, he will say he wants Special Advisers, Special Assistants and he will even want to choose their portfolios but I said these things are not done like that and they said it is done like that, that is controversy.

There is a godfather who had an arrangement with the military that he would be paid N10m every month, I wasn’t there when the agreement was made. When I tried to stop it, I was dragged to President Obasanjo’s office and I told Obasanjo this is the situation I found on ground and Obasanjo said I had to go back and continue paying it; that it was legal. At what stage did I renege? They will always try to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it. Obasanjo gave them contracts worth billions of naira, they were super rich, there was nothing I could give to them.

According to Dino Melaye "I challenge her to produce the so called record of abuse in any police station in Nigeria where Dino was invited and his statement taken. Nothing ever took place so nothing to report." 

Here are a number of pictures from Dino's vicious assault of Tokunbo On Oct 1 2010. A complaint was lodged with the police, and a police constable was instructed to accompany her to the Hospital. This is really bad regardless of what she did. She's a human being not a punching bag please. If you need to vent your anger, man or woman punch a wall not a human being.

Residents of Akure, the Ondo State Capital yesterday trooped to the palace of the late Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi Adesida, the Afunbiowo (II) to see his corpse which was placed on the throne for all to see.

According to reports, the late king was placed on his seat as part of the Akure kingdom tradition that must be carried out in honour of the deceased Monarch. The late king died early hours on Sunday in his palace after a slight headache.

It is with great sadness that this sordid situation has been brought into public domain. In an attempt to shield "the mother" of his children, Dino decided to "quietly" file for divorce and end this turbulent union. Unfortunately

"this woman" has gone all out with wicked lies even to her detriment, to try to disorganize and tarnish Dino's image.

Do we start with:

1) Violence:

I challenge her to produce the so called record of abuse in any police station in Nigeria where Dino was invited and his statement taken. Nothing ever took place so nothing to report.

2) Gun to the head: 

Dino has no ammunition. The gun incident was the police search and report. Her intention (after accepting money from Dino's political enemies) was to have him imprisoned under possession of illegal arms. Any reason to pin Dino down and have him jailed. This woman collected bribe to frame the father of her children. The police search in her presence revealed no possession of guns and interpreted her complaints as trivial and cleared Dino of possessing any weapon or incriminating material. The report was signed by the ACP CID, FCT command. She claimed gun was pointed at her in September but only reported a gun threat on 30th of October. Over 1month after a gun threat, laughable. This took place months ago when she no longer resided in his house. She is now presently even facing legal charges based on defamation of character and false criminal accusation.

Dino Melaye's Wife Files For Divorce After He Put A Gun To Her Forehead

Update: Dino Melaye has confirmed on twitter that he is happy that his marriage has come to an end. See his tweet below. 

Dino Melaye's 10year old marriage has crashed down like a pack of cards and Tokunbo his wife and mother of his three kids has taken to her heels filing for divorce in the process.

According to stelladimokokorkus they had a lot of problems. Each time they had an argument his wife would end up in hospital being treated for injuries of all kinds. Aside from allegedly sleeping with his house girl which was one of the major problems there are also confirmed whispers that sometimes when Tokunbo went to work he removed her pix from the house walls and brought in different women in their matrimonial bed telling them his wife had died and even getting the domestic staff to say their madam was resting with the Lord. 

Senator Yerima Divorces 17 yr old Egyptian Wife, Marries 15 Year Old

We all know Senator Yerima.  He’s the senator that married a 14 year old Egyptian girl 3 years ago, 5 months ago he argued on TV that once a girl has reached puberty she can be married, meaning a girl as young as 11 can be married off. He was also strongly against the deletion of the section of the 1999 constitution which pegged the official marriage age in Nigeria as 18 years, saying it was anti-Islam.

He’s back in the news again as City People is reporting that the senator and former governor of Zamfara State has divorced the 17 year old girl he married 3 years ago, Marian, and remarried a girl said to be 15 years old. The new wife is also said to be Egyptian and goes by the name, Fathia.

According to the magazine, Yerima and four men, said to be members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly were in Egypt a few weeks ago for the wedding Fathia of a new bride said to be 15 years old. According to the report he divorced his last wife, now mother of one in order to marry a new bride which will keep him within the maximum of 4 wives allowed by Islam.

I am actually short of words on this one, what is it with his urge to marry young underage girls? A 17 year old already a mother of one thanks to this man, this is absolutely disgusting.

At a tribute event for Nelson Mandela in Lagos, Mr. Amaechi said Nigerians have not shown enough aggression or resistance against stealing by political office holders.
