The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Wednesday apologized to Nigerians over the fuel scarcity situation in the country.

According to Vanguard, the organisation also revealed that it has entered into a partnership with security agencies in the country to assist in the monitoring of fuel supply across the country.

Police Arrest 9 Fake Dettol Soap & Liquid Disinfectants Sellers In Kano

According to the Public Relations Officer of the state’s Police Command, Mr Magaji Majiya, the police in Kano have arrested nine persons for allegedly selling face substandard Dettol soap and liquid disinfectants. Items recovered from the suspects included 1,301 cartons of the product, four cartons of soap valued at N11.1 million. 

The suspects were apprehended at the Sabon Gari Market in Kano following a letter of complaint from a concerned citizen in the state. According to Magaji Majiya, 'After receiving the letter, the ambush squad raided the market where six retailers and three dealers were arrested.' 

As soon as the investigation is completed, the suspects would be duly charged to court for prosecution.

19 Month Old Baby Burned To Death In Oven By Her Siblings

A baby was baked to death in an oven by her toddler brother and sister after they were left alone at home. 

The twin three-year-olds watched as 19-month-old J’zyra Thompson kicked the oven door after they made it “hot”, court documents claim. 

Mum Racquel Thompson and her boyfriend had gone out to fetch a takeaway pizza and a prescription, leaving four kids under the age of five in the flat without telling a grandmother who lived in the same block.

LASG Warns Lagosians Against Consuming Imported Chickens

The Lagos State Government has warned Lagosians against eating exhumed and contaminated chicken that are in circulation within the state as they pose a serious health risk to everyone. 

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Toyin Suarau, said some imported poultry products that are contaminated were seized by the Nigeria Customs Service in Badagry and buried but were later exhumed by some people who planned to sell them to unsuspecting members of the public. 

NDLEA Intercepts Drugs Worth N4.6bn From Notorious Drug Dealer

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested 42-year-old Tochukwu Ubah, alleged to be coordinating a large volume of methamphetamine and ephedrine distribution in the country. 

In a statement issued by Mitchell Ofoyeju, Head, Public Affairs, NDLEA, in Lagos on Sunday, Mr. Ubah was arrested by the agency’s Special Enforcement Team, SET, at the old local section of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos when he arrived from Enugu. 

Kogi Governorship “Projected Winner” Abubakar Audu is Dead

On the 21st December 2015, the Governorship election for Kogi State took place. As at the end of the election, the projected winner of the poll was All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Abubakar Audu.

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the results of the elections inconclusive.
Shortly after this announcement, Abubakar Audu collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.

His sudden death was unexpected. As of now, the exact medical cause of death has not been revealed.

Police Arrest 21 Homosexual Students In Asaba, Delta State

Police men in Asaba, Delta State, have arrested 21 students who are allegedly homosexuals.

According to Punch, a reliable source said that two state-owned polytechnics (names withheld) where the suspects were arrested, were popular with homosexual activities for financial gains.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

She said:

“We had it on good authority that the male students allegedly engaged in anal sex. The suspects, upon interrogation, made useful statements to the police while investigations are ongoing.”

Newlywed Lawyer Allegedly Cuts Wife’s Ear with Pliers

A newlywed lawyer Nonso Paul Nzedebe allegedly cut his wife Nwogo‘s ear with pliers.

The couple just got married a year ago – in December 2014, and they have a four-month-old baby boy, Emeka. The wedding photos are all on his Instagram page – click here. 

On the 16th of November, the wife recently ran to a police station as bits of her ear were dangling, after she said her husband came after her with pliers. He attacked her because she had reported his incessant abuse to police.

Nollywood Actress Maureen Ihua Reportedly Abducted

Veteran actress Maureen Ihua was reportedly abducted in Port-Harcourt two days ago and now a N10 million ransom demand has been made.

According to reports, 3 gunmen kidnapped Maureen Ihua on Ada George road in the capital city of Rivers State and she is said to have been taken to an unknown location in Port Harcourt.

Her abductors contacted her family members and demanded for a 10 million Naira ransom.

Nigerian Couple Found Guilty Of Enslaving Another Nigerian For 24 Years In The UK

A Nigerian couple, Emmanuel and Antan Edet, living in the UK have been found guilty of keeping a fellow Nigerian, Ofonime Sunday Inuk, now 40 as a slave for 24 years at their home in Perivale, North West London. Ofonime had contacted a charity organization, Hope for Justice, after he watched a TV documentary on modern day slavery.

EFCC Arraigns Former Benue Gov. Suswam Over Alleged N3.1 Billion Money Laundering

Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has been arraigned by theEconomic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering and corruption charges. 

The arraignment began today at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Channels reports.

Suswam is being arraigned on a 9-count charge of N3.1 billion money laundering.

An evangelist alleged to have raped a 13- year-old girl in Mararaba, Karu Local Government area of Nasarawa state has been arrested by the State Police Command. The Commissioner of Police, Mr Sani Mohammed, on Monday, told newsmen in Lafia that the suspect was invited to stay with the girl’s family in Mararaba, based on trust, but abused the privilege by forcefully having carnal knowledge of the minor.

Aisha Alhassan Declared As Governor Of Taraba State By Tribunal

The Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja today decided that Hajia Aisha Alhassan, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate of the April 11 gubernatorial polls in the state was the rightful winner of the election.

The Tribunal in its judgement directed that Alhassan be sworn in as the governor of the Taraba state.

63 Year Old Man Found With Pieces Of Female Genitals

WTF! This is so cringeworthy. 63-year-old Danish man, Peter Frederiksen, who was allegedly found with 21 pieces of female genitalia appeared before a South African court yesterday November 4th. 

Frederiksen was arrested back in September after the mutilated vaginas were allegedly found in his home. Surgical equipment and anaesthetic drugs were also said to have been found in the property.

She ended up giving away £4,000 before she discovered she was the victim of an elaborate scam based in Nigeria. Even to this day, Sheila has no idea who she was actually talking to or where her money went.

Man Kills Girlfriend for Rejecting Marriage Proposal After Funding her Education

A man from Imo State shot his girlfriend, Onyinyechi in the head at close range, after she rejected his marriage proposal.  Sources close to the couple told Vanguard that the man was especially frustrated about the rejection, as he had paid Onyinyechi’s school fees for years. 

22-year-old Onyinyechi was, until her death, a final year student of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri West Local Government Area of the state.

2 Nigerian Women Arrested at MMIA for Attempting to Smuggle Drugs out of Country

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two women for attempting to smuggle cocaine and cannabis out of Nigeria.

The women were arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) for attempting to smuggle 4.450kg of cocaine to India and 7kg of cannabis to China, respectively.

Amaechi, Shittu & Other Ministers-Designate Promise to Work for Free if Buhari Can’t Pay Salaries

On Friday, President Buhari announced that due to financial constraints, there may not be 42 ministers, as was had in the last administration.

According to Punch, Buhari said, “Yes, there used to be 42 ministers, I think we will be lucky if we can have half of that now because we cannot afford it. Others may not be substantive ministers but they will sit in the cabinet because that is what the constitution says and we cannot operate outside the constitution.”
