24 Year Old Woman on trial for sexually molesting 5-yr-old girl in Lagos
This is very disturbing to say the least. A 24-year-old woman, Nwakaego Ugochukwu, was arraigned in Lagos on Tuesday for sexually molesting a five-year-old girl in her residence.
The accused, a factory worker, who resides in Ago Okota, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on sexual assault before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The Prosecutor, Insp Eruada Victor, told the court that the accused on May 5, 2016, took the child to her residence where she sexually assaulted the five-year-old girl.

Nigerian Labour Congress Suspends Nationwide Strike
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Sunday in Abuja suspended its nationwide strike which it embarked on to protest hike in electricity tariff and increase in the pump price of petrol in the country.
This is contained in a communique at the end of an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the congress.
The communique, signed by Ayuba Wabba and Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, President and General-Secretary of the congress respectively, stated that the suspension was with immediate effect.

Nigeria On High Alert Over Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
The Federal Government on Friday alerted Nigerians to the outbreak of a killer disease known as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome in the country.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who announced the outbreak of the disease at a news conference in Abuja, said the disease had killed one person. Adewole added that another person affected by the disease was responding to treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja.
Urging Nigerians not to panic, Adewole said the Federal Government was doing everything possible to check the outbreak.

Another Sad Case Of Domestic Violence
Ronke Bewaji Shonde, a woman in her mid-thirties, was found lifeless on the floor of her sitting room. She is believed to have been murdered by her husband, Lekan, who is now on the run.
According to reports on Nairaland, Neighbours had to forcefully open the door when their hired help came in the early hours of yesterday morning but was unable to. Upon opening the door, they found her body bruised and battered with blood seeping from her head.
Five Nigerians in the UK Sent to Jail Over 2.4 Million Euro Fraud
Five Nigerians have been sentenced to jail for various housing frauds in Southwark, London, UK Evening Standard reports.
Trudy Ali-Balogun, 55, a Southwark Council Officer was said to have given tenancies worth £2.4 million to fraudsters claiming to be homeless. She also took bribes of £2,000 to wave through bogus applications which included fake birth certificates passports and wage slips and spent the money on foreign holidays, Inner London Crown Court heard.

Teebillz tests negative for cocaine & other hard drugs
Tunji 'Teebillz' Balogun has tested negative for hard drugs. The father of four, who was accused by his estranged wife, singer Tiwa Savage, of taking cocaine, told friends that he hadn't touched drugs in two years.
A source told LIB exclusive that Teebillz was taken to Lancet Laboratories in V/Island today by his friends to test him for drugs and he tested negative to not only cocaine but also other hard drugs.

Senate Proposes Death Penalty for Kidnappers & a 5-year Jail Term for “Randy Lecturers”
The Senate on Wednesday said it will pass a bill for a law to make kidnapping in Nigeria punishable by death.
The resolution followed the adoption of recommendations of the report of by the Joint Committee on Police Affairs, National Security and Intelligence on the “unfortunate re-occurrence of kidnapping and hostage taking”.
The lawmakers held that capital punishment for the offence will serve as deterrent to potential offenders.

Nigerian Woman in South Korea throws her 3 Children from Fourth Level Window of a Burning Building
Precious Enyioko, 30, and her three children aged 1, 3, 4, were trapped in a burning building in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, on Sunday, April 30th 2016. Miraculously, they survived without injuries.
To escape the incident, Precious had to dangle her baby through the window before she caught onlookers attention.

Edo Govt increases Workers’ Minimum Wage from N18,000 to N25,000
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Sunday announced the increment of the National Minimum Wage from N18,000 to N25, 000 with immediate effect for employees in the State Public Service.
He also promised prompt payment of outstanding arrears of salary to the staff of Local Government Councils in the state.
Oshiomhole who made the announcement on Sunday at the grand finale of activities to mark the 2016 Workers Day, said that plans had also been concluded to pay staff of Egor Local Government Council who were being owned 13 months arrears of salary, within the next two weeks.
Explaining why the council was omitted from the bailout to local government councils in 2015, he gave the assurance that the Edo Government had been meeting with the Central Bank of Nigeria and that within the next two weeks, the funds would be released and staff of the council would be paid in full.
He also promised prompt payment of outstanding arrears of salary to the staff of Local Government Councils in the state.
