Woman reportedly Commits Suicide after losing N400,000 in the MMM Scheme
Gloria Samson, aged 34, reportedly left her hometown in Markurdi Benue State on the 28th of December 2016 to commit suicide after getting depressed by the crash of the MMM scheme around early December.
After saying goodbye to her two sons, she left a message for her husband begging to be forgiven for her wrong doings and she then headed off to River Benue to drown herself.

Man Arrested For Duping White Woman He Met On A Dating Site
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Monday, 23 January 2017 arraigned Akintunde Vincent Abiodun before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of Lagos State High court Ikeja on amended charge bordering on forgery and obtaining money by false pretense.
The 37-year-old HND holder from Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State, is said to have defrauded the victim, D. Bonnici of $267,000 (Two Hundred and Sixty-Seven Thousand New Zealand Dollars) by claiming to be Christopher Williams from the United Kingdom.

UPDATE: Pastor E.A Adeboye Remains General Overseer of RCCG, Worldwide
A statement signed by Leke Adeboye, the clergyman’s last son and Personal Assistant said the clarification is coming on the heels of misrepresentation of Pastor E. A Adeboye’s announcement at the Annual Ministers Thanksgiving held at the redemption camp today that the Church Nigeria is now to be led by Pastor Joseph Obayemi.
The statement clarified that the latest development is sequel to the new legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques, and CSOs.

Lagos Assembly Okays Death Penalty For Kidnappers
The Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday okayed death penalty for offenders as it passed the Anti-kidnapping Bill into law. Tagged “A bill for a law to provide for the prohibition of the act of kidnapping and for other connected purposes”, it will become law after Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s assent.
The bill prescribes death sentence for kidnappers whose victims died in their custody. Kidnappers whose victims did not die in their custody will get life jail.

An undergraduate Babcock student Verishima Unokyur has reportedly committed suicide.
Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola‘s husband, Olukayode Salako disclosed this via his Facebook page saying:
So Sad! What must have made this boy to take his own life?! What?! He was from a very responsible and financially comfortable home. He was getting good care from his mother?! He was a very good brilliant and quiet boy, who had the best of education! Mrs Unokyur has been a very good woman to her children, who has committed everything she has to their full support.

Nigerian Man Escapes from Indian Cell few Hours to His Deportation
A Nigerian man, John Okoro, 35 convicted for drug-related crimes in India has escaped from prison few hours to his deportation.
Mumbai Mirror reports that he escaped from the Anti-Narcotics Cell’s custody around 2AM when he told officials that he wanted to use the toilet, and then jumped from the first floor of the agency’s Azad Maidan office where he was being held.
He crashed through the asbestos roof and fled on foot.

39 Killed, 69 Injured in New Year’s Eve Attack on Istanbul Nightclub
A lone gunman opened fire on New Year revelers at a packed nightclub on the shores of Istanbul’s Bosphorus waterway on Sunday killing at least 39 people, including many foreigners, then fled the scene.
Some people jumped into the Bosphorus waters to save themselves after the attacker opened fire at random in the Reina Nightclub just an hour into the new year.
