Father chains his only son and leaves him in the bush

This little boy was found by the community security service during the sanitation exercise crying in a bush near a river in Okpuno, Awka .His legs were bound in chains and locked with a padlock. From investigations his father whose photo also appeared above known as Alhaji by his fellow Okada riders was the one who chained his two legs and left him in the bush for three days without food or water.

The said father told his neighbours that his son has been missing for three days and both him and neighbours were searching for the little boy together without the neighbours knowing that he knew where his son was. But he ran out of luck when the security men from the community discovered the boy crying in the bush. The little boy happens to be the only child from his former wife who no longer lives with him. No one knows if he had any intentions of using the boy for ritual purposes.

Meet Newton Jibunoh who travelled by road from London to Nigeria

Famous for his trips across the desert, Jibunoh rhapsodises on his first trip which he made when he was in his 20s. “When you are in your 20s, that is what I will regard as your formative era, when you decide who you are and where you are headed. One of such examples was the arrest and trial of Nelson Mandela. He said on the day he was sentenced, ‘this is my cause, this is what I believe in, and I will continue to do so even if I die in the process.’

The other statement was that of John .F. Kennedy, who was challenged for trying to explore the space and the moon because of the huge amount of money America, was investing in it. He told his opponents that it was only by doing hard things that good things come out. That also stayed with me and that inspiration started in earnest. I decided that I was going to be part of my era and the only way to do that was to try the impossible. It took me six months to get to Nigeria from London.”

Two drug suspects arrested in Lagos

Two suspected drug traffickers arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have blamed their friend for luring them into the criminal act, the agency alleged on Saturday. The men were apprehended for attempting to export 4.285 kilogrammes of methamphetamine to India. The arrests took place at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos during routine search on passengers boarding an Ethiopian airline flight to India, NDLEA said without disclosing the date of arrest. ”The substance that tested positive for methamphetamine is valued at N68.5 million,” NDLEA said.

The drug, according to the NDLEA airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, was hidden inside a brown luggage. The suspects are Eboro Joe Okwudili, 41, and Opara Daniel, 30. “Eboro was the person travelling while Opara Daniel was assigned to monitor Eboro to avoid diversion of the drug. During screening, the drug was discovered in his luggage at the baggage checking desk,” NDLEA said. Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, was quoted as saying that there is no escape route for drug traffickers. “We shall continue to monitor and prevent cases of drug trafficking in the country. Already, two suspects have been arrested in connection with this case and we are working hard to arrest others” the NDLEA boss assured. NDLEA said the suspects will soon be charged to court.

Danish Magazine says it is not publishing bottomless Kate Middleton photos

After days of seeming to promote its upcoming publication of photos of Kate Middleton without her bikini bottom, the Danish magazine Se Og Hør has announced it won't be printing any new shots of Prince William's wife sunbathing. The men's website Egotastic published scans of the Danish mag's pages clearly showing the future Queen of England changing out of her bikini bottom. But on Saturday, editor-in-chief of Se och Hoer, Kim Henningsen told CNN it was not publishing photos beyond what it printed on September 20 (thank goodness for that).

Defending those, he said, "It's a set of unique photos from an A-class celebrity. We are a leading gossip magazine in Denmark, and it is my job to publish them. If the British royal family want to sue us, then it will happen then and we'll deal with it."

Florida teen strangles newborn baby, hides his body in shoe box

A pregnant fourteen-year-old girl secretly delivered her baby with a pair of scissors in the family bathroom before throttling the boy to death and hiding the body in a shoe box. Cassidy Goodison, 14, has been charged as an adult with first degree murder after police learned how she killed her child following months of fearfully disguising her pregnancy from her mother and father.

Goodison went into labour in her home in Greenbrier Village, Florida on September 19 and instead of calling for help, disguised her screams of pain by running the tap and gripping a towel between her teeth as she sat on the toilet. After prising the 9.5lb boy form her body with a pair of  scissors, she felt for a pulse and then strangled the boy to death and hid his corpse in a shoe box with dirty laundry.

Three days later, as Teresa Goodson cleaned her daughter's room, a foul odour drew her attention to a pile of soiled, wet clothes in which she found the deceased infant hidden in a box.  An autopsy performed determined the victim was a full term infant and that he was alive and breathing prior to death. He died as a result of asphyxia from strangulation and blunt force trauma. This is really disheartening, for a 14 year old.

Following his arrest, he declared that he had a total sum of $4.5million on him but thorough screening and search showed that he was actually carrying $7,049,444, the commission said.  Sheriff then confessed that he was a courier for 20 individuals who hired him to courier the money for them to Dubai.

“Investigations by the EFCC showed that Sheriff is a regular traveller and one of several couriers of illegal cash suspected to be proceeds of crime,” the commission adding that his claims concerning his accomplices are being investigated.

Rapist demands paternal visitation rights to the child he fathered with victim

Wendy Murphy is the victim's attorney
A man who raped a 14-year-old girl and got her pregnant is now allegedly demanding visitation rights for the child, can you imagine?. The man, then 20, met his victim at church when she was in the eighth grade, and had sex with her. Its bad enough she was raped at a young age and then she has to be reminded about it by her rapist. The Massachusetts man pleaded guilty to four accounts of statutory rape on four counts in 2009.

The unidentified rapist was sentenced by Norfolk Superior Court Judge Thomas McGuire to 16 years probation in 2011, after prosecutors tried to have him jailed for three to five years. Part of the probation arrangement demanded he acknowledge he is the baby’s father and follow probate and family court rules. The law requires him to pay child support — but also entitles him to seek visitation rights.

'What legal system requires a toddler to have a relationship with the man who raped her mother?'

Man caught trying to sneak into Spain as a car seat

LOL, this is just the height of desperation. A 20 year old man from Guinea was caught trying to sneak into Spain while pretending to be a car seat. According to reports, the man was found hiding inside a Renault 7's passenger seat while the co-driver sat on top of him.

The vigilant police officer who caught him described his attempt to pass undetected as unique and innovative.  His accomplices, 2 Moroccans aged 21 and 23 were also arrested for trying to smuggle him. I must give him credit though for being innovative/creative.

Car falls from bridge in Abuja, kills Police Officer

A black Honda saloon car with registration number CY 691 LND fell off a bridge near Wuse Market, Abuja, killing the driver. The driver, a police corporal, died on the spot. A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent, who visited the scene, reports that the car knocked off the concrete embankment on the bridge before crashing into the ravine below. The impact tore the car into pieces with the engine separated from the body.

The Divisional Traffic Officer at Wuse Police Station, Mr. Kassim Yusuf, confirmed the death of the driver who, he said, was a police corporal at the FCT command. “His name is Isah Obadiah, a corporal with the Special Anti Robbery Squad of the FCT Command., he closed from duty and was heading home when the accident occurred,” he said. The body has been deposited at the Wuse General Hospital mortuary. Yusuf, who said the cause of the accident had yet to be ascertained, noted that the body of the driver was flung out of the car.

Mr. Yusuf Clark, the Deputy Director of Operations, Road Traffic Services in the FCT, said that over speeding might have caused the accident.
“He must have skidded as a result of over speeding; I believe he was moving at more 100 km per hour,” he added.
