UK Deports 23 Nigerians Over Immigration Offences


The UK Government has deported 23 Nigerians for committing immigration-related offences in the country. The deportees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos at about 6AM on Friday.

NDLEA Seizes N183m Worth of Cannabis, Arrests Two Suspected Drug Dealers & Dangote truck Driver


Two suspected cannabis dealers and one driver of a Dangote truck have been arrested by the Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), PUNCH reports.

Wakawa Buba, the NDLEA commander in the state, said that 18,294kg of the substance were seized in three different operations. The black market value of that amount of the substance is said to be about N183m.

Two Sentenced to 6 Months Imprisonment Each for BVN Scam


Justice Sa’ad Muhammad of the Gombe State High Court on Thursday sentenced the duo of Innocent Uche Clinton and Emmanuel Okanni for fraud.

Innocent and Emmanuel specialised in scamming unsuspecting members of the public by sending text messages claiming to be from customer care of different Banks and telling the recipients that their transaction accounts were closed due to BVN issues.

They thereafter request for the BVN of their victims in order to rectify the problem.
The convicts, who hail from Orlu Ngaba Local Government Area of Imo State were sentenced to six months imprisonment each.

Cynthia Osokogu’s Murderers Sentenced to Death by Hanging


Two men, who were charged with the murder of Cynthia Osokogu in 2012 have been sentenced to death by hanging.

Premium Times reports that Justice Olabisi Akinlade of the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere found Ezekiel Eloka and Okwuoma Echezona Nwabufo guilty of Cynthia’s murder. They were also found guilty of conspiracy and stealing.

An Ondo State Chief Magistrate’s Court has sentenced one Waleola Sunday, 32, a pastor with the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church in the Oke Aro area of Akure, to three years imprisonment for child molestation, Sahara Reporters reports.

NAFDAC Ordered to Direct NBC to Warn Consumers against Drinking Fanta, Sprite with Vitamin C


The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has been ordered to direct Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC) Plc., manufacturers of Fanta and Sprite soft drinks to add a warning on the bottles of the product, that its content cannot be taken with Vitamin C.
