Enugu Police Arraign 7-year-old for Murder after He Accidentally Shot and Killed Neighbour

7-year-old Chibuike has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Enugu for alleged murder.

BN brought you Chibuike’s story about two weeks ago. According to the report, he accidentally shot and killed a 12-year-old boy, Oluebube Boniface with the gun he found when he and his brother, Ifeanyichukwu were cleaning a room in the house where their mum worked as a housekeeper.

6 Nigerians Set To Be Executed In Indonesia Over Drug Trafficking Offenses

Families were granted last visits on Thursday as executions loomed for 14 people on death row for drug trafficking in Indonesia, a lawyer said.

The lawyer, Antonius Karwayu, who represented two of the convicts, said that the convicts could face a firing squad at the Nusa Kambangan prison complex off the coast of Java.

“The families have been notified that there would be executions and the convicts had been asked for their last wishes. Their families were given until 3PM today (about 9AM Nigerian time on Thursday) to visit them so it is likely that the executions would be carried out tonight,” Karwayu said.

Teenagers Arrested in Akwa Ibom for Possession of Human Skull

Three teenagers and a 20-year-old were on Thursday arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Akwa Ibom state police command for being in possession of a human skull.

According to Vanguard, the suspects Emmanuel Edet Ikot, 17; Ubong Udong, 18; Bright Effiong Okon, 19 and Okon Ita, 20, said that were looking for a buyer.

Police Parade Woman Who Allegedly Uses Schoolgirls as Sex Slaves

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman, Chinoso Okonkwo, for allegedly using students of some secondary schools in the Ikate, Surulere area, as commercial sex workers, PUNCH reports.

Fatai Owoseni, the Commissioner of Police in the state who paraded the suspect said that investigations are ongoing.

“Detectives arrested her on Wednesday. Her mode of operation is to target some secondary schools in the area. She, together with her cohorts, would go to the schools and get the girls to a hotel. The hotel is located in Ikate, Surulere. She would change their clothes and use them as sex slaves.

Eid al-Fitr: FG Extends Public Holiday to July 7

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, July 6, and Thursday, July 7, as public holiday to mark the Eid al-Fitr celebration following the non-sighting of the moon on Monday.

The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), made the declaration on Tuesday in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Bassey Akpanyung.

South African Olympic sprinter, Oscar Pistorius has been sentenced in a fresh hearing to 6 years in prison for “culpable homicide” of his 2013 live-in girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

He may be eligible for parole and may not have to serve the full term in prison.

Beloved Nollywood actress Bukky Ajayi passed away today, many sources are reporting.

Punch Newspaper reported a source confirmed her passing via telephone but has not given more details at this time.

The eloquent actress touched many hearts this year at the AMVCA after she got a standing ovation for her Industry Merit Award.

She will surely be missed by all.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that their deportation is coming less than 48 hours after 41 Nigerians were deported from the United States of America for similar reasons.

Fake Doctor bags Life Imprisonment for Kidnapping 8-year-old boy

Kogi High Court sitting in Lokoja has sentenced a fake Medical Doctor, Joseph Adeika to life imprisonment for kidnapping his former employer’s 8-year-old son, Favour Sunday in Ajaokuta.

Justice Yunusa Musa of Kogi High Court V handed down the sentence on Wednesday in Lokoja.

Adeika was on June 2nd convicted for kidnapping Sunday from his parents’ residence in Ajaokuta.

Musa held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that the convict masterminded and executed the kidnap of Sunday and collected ransom before the victim was released.

Boxing Legend Muhammad Ali Dies at 74

Muhammad Ali, the legendary boxer who proclaimed himself “The Greatest” and was among the most famous and beloved athletes on the planet, died Friday in Phoenix, Arizona, CNN Reports.

Ali was rushed to the hospital on Thursday after he suffered from some respiratory problems.

The family’s spokesman, Bob Gunnell said: “After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The Ali family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support and asks for privacy at this time.”

24 Year Old Woman on trial for sexually molesting 5-yr-old girl in Lagos

This is very disturbing to say the least. A 24-year-old woman, Nwakaego Ugochukwu, was arraigned in Lagos on Tuesday for sexually molesting a five-year-old girl in her residence.

The accused, a factory worker, who resides in Ago Okota, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on sexual assault before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The Prosecutor, Insp Eruada Victor, told the court that the accused on May 5, 2016, took the child to her residence where she sexually assaulted the five-year-old girl.

Nigerian Labour Congress Suspends Nationwide Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Sunday in Abuja suspended its nationwide strike which it embarked on to protest hike in electricity tariff and increase in the pump price of petrol in the country.

This is contained in a communique at the end of an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the congress.

The communique, signed by Ayuba Wabba and Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, President and General-Secretary of the congress respectively, stated that the suspension was with immediate effect.

Nigeria On High Alert Over Stevens-Johnson Syndrome

The Federal Government on Friday alerted Nigerians to the outbreak of a killer disease known as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome in the country.

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who announced the outbreak of the disease at a news conference in Abuja, said the disease had killed one person. Adewole added that another person affected by the disease was responding to treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja.
Urging Nigerians not to panic, Adewole said the Federal Government was doing everything possible to check the outbreak.

Another Sad Case Of Domestic Violence

Ronke Bewaji Shonde, a woman in her mid-thirties, was found lifeless on the floor of her sitting room. She is believed to have been murdered by her husband, Lekan, who is now on the run.

According to reports on Nairaland, Neighbours had to forcefully open the door when their hired help came in the early hours of yesterday morning but was unable to. Upon opening the door, they found her body bruised and battered with blood seeping from her head.

Five Nigerians in the UK Sent to Jail Over 2.4 Million Euro Fraud

Five Nigerians have been sentenced to jail for various housing frauds in Southwark, London, UK Evening Standard reports.

Trudy Ali-Balogun, 55, a Southwark Council Officer was said to have given tenancies worth £2.4 million to fraudsters claiming to be homeless. She also took bribes of £2,000 to wave through bogus applications which included fake birth certificates passports and wage slips and spent the money on foreign holidays, Inner London Crown Court heard.
