Veteran Broadcaster & Nollywood Producer Tunde Oloyede Dies at 70


Veteran broadcaster and Nollywood producer and director Tunde Oloyede has passed away.

The 70 year old producer, died early this morning in his home in Festac, New Telegraph reports.

He was the former President of Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria (ITPAN), and also produced and directed popular TV drama series The Village Headmaster.

His is survived by his wife who is also a veteran broadcaster, Bimbo Oloyede, and their children.

Man Who Jumped Into Lagos Lagoon Has Been Identified + Family Speaks


The man who jumped off the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge into the Lagos lagoon on Friday morning has been identified as Oluseyi Adekunle.

Adekunle, who appeared to be on his way to work dropped his bag at the rails before taking the plunge into the Lagoon in an apparent suicide bid. His ATM card and other items were recovered from the scene of the sad incident, thereby revealing his identity.

Mariah Carey Robbed


American Singer Mariah Carey has been robbed of $50,000 (£38,000) worth of accessories after thieves stormed her LA home on Thursday. 

According to TMZ, the Singer's crib was hit around 3 AM Thursday Morning. It appears they got in through a window or door on an upper floor ... a ladder was found in the backyard. The crooks didn't make off with any fabulous jewelry. Instead, they bagged up $50k worth of purses and sunglasses.

No one was home at the time as Mariah was in NYC, and although the burglars tripped a silent alarm her security didn't discover the break-in until about 6 or 7 AM.

Armed Robbers raid Passengers on BRT Bus


About 30 hoodlums with weapons – guns, cutlasses – attacked passengers riding in a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle, dispossessing them of their valuables and money. The robbers, on Sunday, stopped the bus at Toll Gate area of the Lagos – Abeokuta Expressway, pretending to be passengers, New Telegraph reports.


Man Jumps from Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge into the Lagoon


An unidentified man has reportedly plunged into the Lagos lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.

Social media users have reported seeing a man jump off the bridge, with officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit already on the scene.

Sterling Bank Staff Arraigned For N25.4million Alleged Theft


Two officers with the Ogba, Lagos branch of Sterling Bank Plc, James Oke, 28 and Moyosore Shofowora, 27 have been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly withdrawing the sum of N25,466,330 from the internal control accounts of the bank without authorization and converted the money to their personal use.

The two bankers were arrested on the order of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Lion Building Division, CSP Folashade Tanaruno following a complaint by the management of Sterling Bank through its Chief Security Officer, Mr. Okodugha Sunday Evaristus.

EFCC arrests Four Dropouts for Million Dollar Internet scam


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested four suspected Internet fraudsters in Lagos.

The suspects, who reportedly made millions of dollars from scamming foreigners mostly from the U.S and Europe are Oluwaseun Michael, 28; Igbokwe Chijioke, 27; Felix Chukwudi, 22 and Babajide Goloba.

Armed Robbers Hit Bank's Bullion Van In Delta And Cart Off N25m


Yesterday Robbers ambushed officials of a bank and their seven Police escorts along Benin-Asaba Expressway in broad daylight carting off N25 million. The Commissioner of Police, Delta Command, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident to Vanguard, said the Operations Manager of the bank, suspected to have arranged for the Police escort, has been arrested and investigations on.

China bans Children from attending Church Services

The Chinese Government has placed a ban on children in the country attending church services.
The move is reportedly a bid to crack down on religion in the country, particularly Islam and Christianity. According to Daily Mail, over one hundred churches in Wenzhou, China’s Zhejiang province were served a notice saying minors will not be allowed to enter churches. They will also be banned from participating in religious activities and attending religious sermons. Churches are also not allowed to organise a youth summer camp.

Libya Deports More Nigerians


The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Has Revealed that another batch of 139 deportees arrived the country from Libya on Tuesday. Ibrahim Farinloye, the South-West spokesman, NEMA, confirmed the deportation to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Wednesday in Lagos.
Mr. Farinloye said that the aircraft that conveyed the deportees arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, at 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday aboard a chartered Airbus A320 Afriqiyah aircraft with registration number 5A-ONA.

After the profiling, we have 105 females comprising 101 female adults, three female children and one female infant.

Police used death threat to make Evans plead Guilty – Lawyer


On Wednesday, suspected kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Omwuamadike, popularly known as Evans pleaded guilty to 2-counts of conspiracy and kidnapping when he was arraigned before Justice Hakeem Oshodi of an Ikeja High Court, Lagos. He was arraigned alongside five others, four of which pleaded guilty to the charges. The defendants were subsequently remanded in prison. The judge then adjourned the case until October 19.

The Federal Government has declared Friday, 1 September and Monday 4 September as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau made the statement on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday in Abuja.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced through Facebook on Monday that his wife, Priscilla Chan has given birth to their second child named August. “Priscilla and I are so happy to welcome our daughter August!” he wrote.

Mark also published a letter that he and Priscilla wrote to August on the social platform about the world they hope she grows up in, and also hope she doesn’t grow up too fast. They posted a similar letter when big sister Max Zuckerberg was born in December 2015.

Mark wrote the letter to August, which he and Priscilla signed.

Evans pleads Guilty to Kidnapping Charges


Suspected kidnap kingpin Chukwudubem Onwuamadike popularly referred to as Evans has reportedly pleaded guilty to the kidnapping charges leveled against him.

According to Premium Times, he and five of his suspected accomplices were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping at the Ikeja High Court. The judge adjourned the case until October 19, with Evans and the other male defendants to be remanded at Kirikiri Maximum Prison until then.

The female defendant, who was the only one who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, is to be remanded at the Kirikiri Female Prison until October 19.

“The Ooni and I are no more” Olori Wuraola confirms separation rumours


The now-former queen of Ife Olori Wuraola, now Zaynab-Otiti Obanor, has confirmed rumours of her split with the Ooni of Ife Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. She confirmed the news on her Instagram, saying that a lot of false information about her has been circulated.

“What I can confirm, is that the Ooni and I are no more,” she said.
Olori Wuraola urged people to stop shaming women with false stories of infidelity, and said there is “no truth to the media circulated lies of infidelity and infertility- on my end.”

Prophet arrested for allegedly killing 13-year old girl for “Yahoo” ritual


A prophet and an accomplice have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command on suspicion of the murder of a 13-year old girl. The accomplice Musiliu Jibril allegedly lured the girl to the prophet Kehinde Onayiga‘s church and killed her, Punch reports.

N6.9m worth of Snakes, Geckos, Spiders imported into Nigeria intercepted in Calabar


Nanbyen Burromvyat, the Customs Area Comptroller in charge of Calabar Free Trade Zone, Cross River and Akwa Ibom Command, has said the command intercepted three consignments containing 140 species of snakes and 600 other animals imported into Nigeria.

Man jailed for Dangling Baby out of a 15-Storey Window & threatening to drop for anything less than 1000 Facebook Likes

A man has been arrested for dangling a baby down a 15-storey window and threatening to drop the baby if a post on Facebook didn’t get 1000 likes, Alarabiya reports.
The man, who is a relative of the baby, was arrested when the viewers of his Facebook Live session quickly called the attention of the police.

Over 70 Ghanaian immigrants were deported from the United States on Wednesday for overstaying their permits.

The all-male deportees arrived a chartered Delta Airline Flight at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport in handcuffs before they were handed over to local authorities, 3News reports.

Governor Ambode orders VIO out of Lagos roads

I bet this is good news for some of yáll. Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has ordered the temporary suspension of the state’s Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIOs, from road operation in the state with immediate effect.

Ambode reportedly gave the order following public complaints regarding the unruly behavior of some of the VIO officers.

35-year-old Nigerian Man Jailed For Life in Cambodia For Drug Trafficking


A Cambodian court on Tuesday, May 8, convicted a Nigerian and Romania of cross-border drug smuggling, and sentenced both of them to life in prison. Romanian man Adrian-Calin Varadi, 40, was caught on Aug. 14, 2016 when he arrived at the Phnom Penh International Airport from Brazil with 4.96 kg of cocaine hidden in his luggage.

A Nigerian doctor and her husband have been accused of trafficking a Nigerian woman to the UK before making her work 18-hour shifts and beating her when she asked for higher wages according to Daily Mail UK.

Dr Ayodeji Adewakun, 44, and Abimbola Adewakun, 48, are alleged to have paid babysitter Iyabo Olatunji, just £20 a week for looking after their two young children at home in Erith, south east London.

Oyo Police Parades Pastor Caught with Human Head & Charms

Nigerian man arrested for allegedly raping 47-year-old woman in the US


A 53-year-old Nigerian man who worked at a group home in Raleigh, North Carolina was arrested last month after he allegedly raped a 47-year-old woman who lives there.

Police accused Nnamdi Godson Nwankwo of Rolesville of second-degree forcible rape and sexual activity by a substitute parent. Both charges are felonies. Records show that police arrested Nwankwo on Merrell Drive in Raleigh at about 10 a.m. on April 5th. Police said the incident happened a day earlier.

253 Nigerians Voluntarily Return from Libya


No fewer than 253 more Nigerians voluntarily returned from Libya on Tuesday aboard a chartered Airbus A330-200 with registration mark 5A-LAT operated by Libya Airlines. The aircraft landed about 6.45pm at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The returnees were made up of 102 males, 140 females, six children and five infants. They were brought back by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Nigerian embassy in Libya.

2 Brazilians Arrested at Lagos Airport after Cocaine worth N310m was Found Hidden in Food Cans in their Luggage


Two Brazilians have been arrested by officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over alleged drug trafficking. The duo – Dias Dos Santos Marcia Cristina, 36 and Lima Pereira Erick Diego, 20 – who traveled from São Paulo, Brazil, claimed to be tourists.

A statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju said that the drugs were carefully hidden in food cans inside their luggage. 9.4kg of cocaine was found in Dias’ bag while 14.465kg of the drug was found in Lima’s bag.

The estimated street value of the total seizure is said to be N310 million.

2 Persons Reported Dead after Uncompleted Building Collapsed in Lekki


A part of an uncompleted building at NICON Town Estate collapsed on Thursday afternoon in Lekki, Lagos. Social media reports state that 2 persons died in the accident.

According to Premium Times, an official of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) said there were “casualties”.

Nigerian Man and his Canadian Wife arrested by Border Officials over Human Trafficking


Michelle and Victor Omoruyi have been arrested by U.S. and Canadian immigration officials for alleged human trafficking, CBC News reports. The arrests were made after a four-month joint investigation in the Saskatchewan region.

Officials had been investigating Victor as he was frequently crossing the Canada-U.S. border.
