Blackberry expands Blackberry Messenger on Android and iOS platforms

Wow, this is like a breath of fresh air to those non-lovers of Blackberry. Well you can now use bbm on your android or iOS. Blackberry has announced its decision to expand its trademark Blackberry Messenger, making it a multi-platform application.

Blackberry CEO Thorsten Heins made the announcement at Blackberry Live on Tuesday, saying BBM was going to be a free for download application on Android and iOS this summer.

“We are confidnet that the time is right for BBM to become a multiplatform messaging solution,” said Heins.

Commercial bus drivers and conductors to start wearing uniform and badges – Kayode Opeifa

Commercial bus drivers and conductors will soon begin to wear uniform and badges in Lagos State. Owners of such buses will also have their identities aboard the vehicles.

According to the State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, “The transport unions have agreed on the type of uniform and the badges they will give to the commercial bus drivers and their conductors. The identities of the owners (owners’ cards) of the commercial buses will also be aboard these buses.”

The commercial bus drivers must also be re-certified by attending the drivers’ institute, where they will undergo comprehensive tests, which includes vision and driving tests. But the thing though is, will they agree to wear these uniforms? What are your thoughts?

Mr Shem has just been posted out of Lagos to Oyo state and he has resumed duty. He was replaced by one Mr  Adesuyi Clement from Oyo State Command and Mr Shem has resumed duty in Mr Adesuyi's post.
In a telephone conversation with Vanguard, Obafaye promised to discharge his duties with every sense of responsibility. ”I am determined to serve in Oyo State and I know God will help me,”

Nigeria signs Visa free agreement with South Africa

Yippee, Nigeria and South Africa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to make it unnecessary for nationals of both countries holding official or diplomatic passports to acquire visa before travelling to either country.

This was signed on Tuesday between President Goodluck Jonathan and President Jacob Zuma. The stress of having to apply and wait is officially over. This is looking good for sure.

Popular hip hop singer, Jay Z, announced his world tour on Thursday, which includes stops in seven African cities including Lagos.

According to Billboard, the tour kicks off on September 9 in Poland and will see the rap legend perform at Accra, Lagos, Cape Town and Dar Es Salaam, among other African cities. Jay-Z is scheduled to perform in Lagos on October 9.

Actress Ngozi Nwosu returns to Nigeria

Good news. Nollywood's Ngozi Nwosu who left Nigeria on February 26th to the UK for a life saving medical treatment is back in Nigeria. She returned on Tuesday May 7th after undergoing kidney and heart treatment in a UK hospital. Her publicist says she's doing very well and will return to the UK in a few months time for check up.

Elshamah Igbanoi's baby is Paul Okoye's first child...says family source

The paternity controversy between Nigerian music star and entertainer, P-2 (real name Paul Okoye), and a beauty pageant contestant and model, Elshamah Igbanoi, has taken a new twist. SaharaReporters first broke the news that Ms. Elshamah was stuck in London over unpaid maternity bills after giving birth to a baby boy she said was fathered by Paul.

A close relative of Mr. Okoye’s has contacted SaharaReporters and asserted that the baby born by Ms. Elshamah Igbanoi, a former Miss Plateau State, is in fact the musician-entertainer’s first child. A few weeks ago, P-Square had thrown a party in Atlanta, Georgia to welcome another baby born by a different lover of his.

Our initial report about the musician’s paternity dispute with the former Miss Plateau went viral. However, Mr. Paul Okoye has kept mum, even though some blogs reported that his public relations claimed that the paternity report was a “hoax” and even an “April Fools’ joke.”

Paul Okoye: I didn’t abandon any baby mama in London

Following allegations started by SaharaReporters and subsequently all over the internet that he had a baby mama who he abandoned in a London hospital, Peter Okoye of P-Square has come out to deny them all, tagging them as false.

The report accused Paul of impregnating 19-year old Elshama Benson Igbanoi, then abandoning her and disclaiming paternity of the child.

Elshama also insisted that she has never slept with any other man except Paul, emphasising that she lost her virginity to Paul Okoye when she was 17 years old.

Former Nigerian footballer, Chidi Odiah refutes claim, says he's still a professional footballer

 Apparently there's being news going round that the former Nigerian footballer has become a taxi driver after he relocated to the US. Well he's come out to refute this by issuing an official statement. Here's what he says:

"My attention has being drawn to the slandering news going round the online media that I was spotted driving Taxi somewhere in the United States of America. Although, I really don’t lose sleep on some online news blogs who write hogwash and claptrap to attract hits on their blog. However I took this rebuttal path due to the hurt that malicious, libel story has caused my friends and family members. Money Laundering: UK Court Dismisses Ibori's Appeal

A United Kingdom court yesterday dismissed an appeal filed by the former governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori, to have his prison term slashed. You all remember he was sentenced last year by a Royal Crown Court for committing money laundering and multiple frauds while in office as governor of Delta state.

Two justices of the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand in London stated that the appeal lacked merit and thus dismissed it. The court also affirmed the 13 year prison sentenced handed the former governor for stealing and money laundering.

Last year, Mr. Ibori was sentenced to 14 years in jail by a Southwark Crown Court judge after he pleaded guilty to stealing about $250 million which he laundered through banks in the United Kingdom. 

The monies, which were stolen from the coffers of Delta State while he was governor there, were lavished on a Bombardier jet, luxury cars, expensive homes in London, and jewellery.

According to a statement signed by the family representative, Deji Adetayo, he stated that, although the singer did not leave a will, she had had an agreement with her husband, Leonard Harvey to auction her remaining items and the proceeds from the sales would be donated to charity.
