Chika Egbo, 22 year old’s estranged lover, bathe her in acid

The motive behind the acid bath of 22-year-old Chika Egbo by her estranged lover, David Sulaimon, remains elusive, but one thing is sure, the victim may not remain the same again. Chika is a student of the Enugu State College of Education. Last Tuesday, when our correspondent visited her at the Burns Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Egbo has become a shadow of the beautiful girl she was.
The substance Sulaimon allegedly poured on her had destroyed every visible skin from her chest upwards. She mumbled to her father, a Taraba State-based businessman, as she could neither see nor speak properly at the time.
When her father, Matthew Egbo, narrated the incident that led to Chika’s state, the story brought tears to his eyes as he lamented that his daughter would never be normal again.

Lady raped at 17 puts to birth; child gets raped 13 years later by the same rapist

Got this story from Peter Kundum's blog (http://peterkundum.blogspot.co.uk).

This story was told to me by a crying mother and victim of rape. It is not hearsay; Ruth David a student of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa state who will be 29 next month gave me a first hand story of her experience with a man who raped her when she was only 17 years old. She got pregnant from the rape and gave birth to a baby girl. About 12 or 13 years later, the same child was being raped and abused by her so-called biological father. Be warned then obscene mental images can arise from reading this very emotional story. Also, we have this document on audio back and has been transcribed without changes except for a few grammatical corrections where very necessary. Note that Ruth cried all through most of the moment during this interview session in my office.

In an interview published yesterday, President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, who has been under criticism for buying a private bombardier jet, explains why his church did so and the pains he has had to endure without a private plane. Below is an excerpt from the interview as published by Vanguardngr.com

Oritsejafor: Coming to the issue of jet, I had no single idea of how it came about. It is true that people like us have gotten to a point where we need to have means of movement that will help us.
You may have heard me speak about my trip to Indonesia, to Jakarta. In fact, it wasn’t even Jakarta I was going to, but I had to stay inside an airport in Jakarta for five hours to wait for my flight, to get to the very city I was going. I was only going to preach for two hours there. I flew from Lagos to Dubai and I spent over three hours, changed flight to fly to Jakarta and then stayed five hours at the airport just to catch a flight to where I was going to, where I was to preach for just two hours. Honest workers uncover mystery $300,000 gold stash hidden under floorboards and hand it over to grateful homeowners

Workers struck lucky by discovering a large amount of gold hidden under the floor of a house in Sacramento but were honest enough to hand it over to their clients, who had no idea it was there. While installing an HVAC system in September, Steve Ottley and his partner came across 12 large baby food jars filled to the brim with gold dust. They gave the hoard to the homeowners and it has since been valued at around $300,000.

No one yet knows who left the stash behind or why it was abandoned. The owners of the house, unaware they had been sitting on such a treasure, declined to be interviewed about their windfall (if na you nko). They will certainly feel they got a good deal on their home improvement - the job which cost them around $6,500 brought a 'rebate' worth nearly 50 times that amount. Real honest worker.

Patrick Obahiagbon on Jet Flying Pastors

This is what he had to say:

I cast my vote for Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah and Pastor Tunde Bakare in their demosthenic vitriol against spiritual megalomaniacs whose modus vivendi has become increasingly byzantine and repulsively narcissistic.

We must all begin to deprecate this razzmatazz and Nestorian braggadocio in the "HOUSE OF GOD",because when there is no difference between the values of a Pastor and a typical Nigerian Politician, then it's truly a bolekaja ambience..... Can someone interpret please?

Chimamanda Adichie pays tribute to Chinua Achebe at 82

I have met Chinua Achebe only three times. The first, at the National Arts Club in Manhattan, I joined the admiring circle around him. A gentle-faced man in a wheelchair.

‘Good evening, sir. I’m Chimamanda Adichie’, I said, and he replied, mildly, ‘I thought you were running away from me’.
I mumbled, nervous, grateful for the crush of people around us. I had been running away from him. After my first novel was published, I received an email from his son. My dad has just read your novel and liked it very much. He wants you to call him at this number. I read it over and over, breathless with excitement. But I never called. A few years later, my editor sent Achebe a manuscript of my second novel. She did not tell me, because she wanted to shield me from the possibility of disappointment. One afternoon, she called.  ‘Chimamanda, are you sitting down? I have wonderful news’. She read me the blurb Achebe had just sent her.

British man's N1bn suit against Police IG Set For Jan 31

An Abuja Federal High Court has fixed January 31, 2013 to hear an application for amendment of the originating summons, as well as the notice of preliminary objection, in the suit filed by a Briton, Mr. Sayed Bukhari.

The petitioner is praying the court to compel the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to pay him N1bn as damages for the failure of the police to investigate his complaint that two police officers robbed him at the Millennium Park in Abuja on October 29, 2011.

The court, presided by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, granted the adjournment after the police said they had not received the plaintiff’s process for the application for amendment of the originating summons. The defendant also pleaded for time to react to the application. The Briton is also claiming N1bn damages for a press statement in which the Federal Capital Territory police command cast doubts on his complaint.

Gift guide for the drunk in your Life

Saw this online and just to share, Lol! Drunk people aren't as easy to buy gifts for as you might think. It's true that everything they need to keep themselves entertained comes in a nice little bottle, but on the other hand they could probably really use something practical to compliment their drunkenness—something they can appreciate even when they are sober and something you can appreciate even when they are drunk. But what do you get for a person who likely won't remember that you bought them a gift? The best path to go down is the one that will make you both happy. Whatever you buy should triple as a durable necessity for when your drunk friend is too drunk, something that will minimize your involvement in their late-night shenanigans, and something that will still seem like a useful/fun gift if they open it sober.

For starters, how about this nice... pillow? Or maybe this fun bed that my roommate bought to stifle the "the world is your bed" feeling?

Meet the woman who is allergic to modern technology

Velma Lyrae spends up to 18 hours a day confined to a cage because she is allergic to modern technology. The 51-year-old can't use a mobile phone, satnav or WiFi, or even use a hairdryer to blow dry her hair. Instead she spends her days reading books, doing artwork and writing letters, all from the comfort of her Faraday cage

She suffers from an increasing common condition called electromagnetic hypersensitivity syndrome (EHS) which means she cannot stand to be near electromagnetic fields. Velma's condition emerged with the arrival of 3G mobile phones, although having a previous electric shock is believed to make people more susceptible. As a teenager Velma suffered a shock when she touched the switch of an electric fire in her bathroom.

"We're all so thrilled they've finally decided to get engaged," Scott’s aunt, Laurie Disick dished to Star. "We're all so fond of Kourtney, and we wish them a long, happy marriage." Star reports that Scott was with Kourtney in Paris filming scenes for their reality show and thought that the romantic backdrop would be the perfect place to pop the question.

"Scott's actually been planning to propose for a while," an insider says, "but he just wasn't sure when the moment would be right." Scott was shopping for engagement rings at Levinson Jewelers in Fort Lauderdale in late October.
