Obama wins second term

President Obama won a second term in the White House Tuesday night, Fox News projects, overcoming concerns about the fragile economic recovery to edge out Republican nominee Mitt Romney. The president's win in the crucial battleground of Ohio, coupled with subsequent victories in both Iowa and Oregon, put him over the required 270 electoral votes.

The vote Tuesday marked the end of a grueling race. For Obama, the election is the last time his name will appear on a ballot, or so he claims. For Romney, the election closed out a nearly six-year run for the presidency. The Republican nominee ran unsuccessfully in 2008. Congratulations to President Obama.

Sex Scandal: Encomium Reveals Ruke Amata’s Wife’s Multiple Affairs With South-South Governor, Others

The eight year marriage of Nollywood actor and producer, Ruke Amata to Gilda has collapsed, thanks to the Governor of one of the South-South states of Nigeria. The wedlock, which has three children as fruits, was ruined after Blackberry messages between Gilda and the Governor, Gilda and an executive blue chip company (Kachi Onubogu) and a gubernatorial candidate in the South West was stumbled upon.
The whistle blower reportedly forwarded the BB messages to Ruke Amata, who admitted being a recipient, and several others via e-mail, including a married Nollywood actress (Omoni Oboli) who was implicated as allegedly warming the bed of the South South governor and a jeweller. Gilda was also discovered to have 17-year-old son whom she hid from her husband. The boy was only discovered recently.

Robbery foiled because workers spoke no English and didn't respond to thieves' demands

Three gunmen attempted to rob a Chinese restaurant in Orlando, Florida Monday night, but their plans were foiled when none of the restaurant workers responded to their demands because they didn't speak English. The masked men entered New China after 9 p.m. and ordered the three employees working there to empty the cash register. None of the workers complied with the robbers' demands, however, because they only spoke Cantonese.

Frustrated, one of the assailants started banging on the cash register with his gun to try and make them understand what he was asking. The gun went off -- police believe accidentally -- and the assailants fled the store toward a nearby neighbourhood, where police dogs led authorities to their getaway car. This is where speaking no English actually helps, Lol!

Wande Coal to launch his own record label soon

Wande Coal will in a couple of months unveil his own record label called BLACK DIAMOND. The label is already registered and has 2 artistes on it with their singles to be released in 2013. The record label, which is being managed by Wande's manager Abbey Nana, has been Wande's dream dream since his days at Mo'Hits before moving on with Don Jazzy as an established artiste under Mavin Records.

Sources close to Wande disclosed to Music Gist that he was inspired to float his own label about 2 years ago when he started having problems with D'banj over the release of his 2nd album. He made efforts to leave Mo'Hits Records but was held back by Don Jazzy who promised to straighten his career for him no matter what.

That Wande is floating his own label might give people reasons to speculate a fight between Don Jazzy and
Wande since he is signed onto his label Mavin but we can authoritatively tell you that they are on good
terms and have an understanding about Wande's move. Don Jazzy , we learnt has given Wande the
grace and support to float his label and also promised to support him

He was alleged to have met the man on social networking site, Hi5 after which he was paid N20,000 for transportation to Lagos. He came and after the rendezvous was paid the agreed sum of N150,000 only for him to discover in a jiffy that his penis was developing branches but lo and behold the partner was no where to be found!

He raised alarm which attracted people to the scene. Dunno how true this is but well we live in a strange world with strange things happening.

The prize, worth $100, 000 was awarded by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas at OceanView on Victoria Island Lagos. Black Sister’s Street, was adjudged the best of three novels that were earlier shortlisted. The other two novels are: Only a Canvas by Olusola Olugbesan and Onaedo; The Blacksmith’s Daughter by Ngozi Achebe.
Professor Ayo Banjo, the Chairman of the panel of Judges who announced the award, said they consider Unigwe’s novel a work of outstanding merit. He also said poor quality of production is still a fundamental problem affecting Nigerian literature.
“Some of the entries would have stood a better chance of winning this prize but were marred by problems attendant upon poor publishing. Some of the books submitted for this year’s prize failed to to rise to the final stage because of issues like poor editing, proofreading and other publishing errors. Nigerian publishers ought to realize that this prize is an international one,” he said. Big congratulations to her.

Governor Akpabio buys $45 Million Private Jet

The government of Akwa Ibom State has confirmed that Godswill Akpabio like his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, also owns a brand new jet. Akpabio took possession of the $45 million jet in June 2012. Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Ummanah, confirmed that Mr. Akpabio bought the Gulfstream jet manufactured in 2011, but insisted that that it is Akwa Ibom State property.

Governor Akpabio’s state of the art jet, which carries FAA registration number N224BH, was interestingly purchased by the same Bank of Utah Trust account used by the Rivers state government.  The deal was handled by a trust attorney at the bank and delivered to Mr. Akpabio. Records show that Governor Akpabio, whose deputy resigned yesterday, has travelled abroad in the jet regularly, especially to and within the United States, since the acquisition. Is this the new trend?

Boko Haram dialogue with FG, ready for ceasefire

Extremist Boko Haram sect on Thursday said it was ready for a ceasefire and dialogue with the Federal Government. A Boko Haram spokesman told journalists in Maiduguri that the group wanted discussions held in Saudi Arabia.
It also wants government to pay compensation for its members killed by security forces as well as the release of Boko Haram supporters in detention, including women and children, and the rebuilding of its damaged property.
The group also called for the prosecution of immediate Borno State Governor, Modu Sheriff. Boko Haram said its team would comprise former head of state, Maj.-Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd.); Alhaji Shettima Monguno and others.
Responding, President Goodluck Jonathan in a statement by his spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, described it as “a welcome development.”
The sect has claimed responsibility for many bomb attacks, which have claimed hundreds of lives and property. Please can the federal govt also ask Boko Haram for compensation for innocent lives they wasted?  That will be a welcome development too.

Nollywood's Pete Eneh losses leg to infection

The veteran actor was said to have sustained some kind of injury last year, and because he didn't take proper care of it, it led to serious infection that became hard to treat. The injury was said to have degenerated to a sore and because Mr Eneh was diabetic, it refused to heal. He spent three months at the hospital before he was advised to amputate the leg before the infection spread to other parts of his body. Doctors at Parklane Hospital Enugu had no choice but to amputate one of his legs in order to save his life.

The amputation took place on Wednesday October 24th after all efforts to save the leg was unsuccessful. This is sad.

Policemen strip and beat up Okada rider

The naked man in the picture is an Okada man who violated the new Lagos state traffic law. He was arrested at the junction adjoining University road and St Finbarrs college road Akoka by policemen in mufti, and before anyone could say anything, the policemen descended on the Okadaman, beating him mercilessly and then stripping him naked. Is this not part of jungle justice? and to think policemen actually stripped him naked. SMH

Snakes sends postal workers scurrying

Clerks at a South African post office fled for safety when they emptied a mail bag and a white python came slithering out. The one metre (yard) long non-venomous snake was one of four sent this week in an express parcel that arrived at the Sabie Post Office, about 300 km northeast of Johannesburg, postal officials said on Wednesday.
Once the python hit the floor, sorting room employees were out of the door, Sabie Branch Manager Mthobisi Duba said. “This was the most traumatic experience ever in the post office,” Duba said in a statement.
An official from the local parks board collected the white python and the three other smaller snakes still in the parcel. The parks board is taking care of the reptiles. The receiver of the parcel was charged with the illegal transport of animals, South Africa’s post service said. I don't know whether to laugh at this or not. I can imagine the pandemonium trying to rush out of the office.
