Police arrest five suspected kidnappers

Police in Imo have arrested five suspected kidnappers in Anara, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state, the command’s spokesman, Mr Vitalis Onugu, said on Tuesday in Owerri. Onugu said that the suspects confessed to have kidnapped one Dr Ernest Nwaigo three months ago.

He said the kidnappers came from a neighbouring state to abduct one Dr Charles Durueke of Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Anara annex, after receiving information from two of their men who were security men at the hospital where Durueke worked.

He said that the police, acting on a tip-off, arrested the kidnappers and their collaborators.
