Update: ‘Dead’ woman revives after fresh Jalingo blast, five children, two others injured


Updated: A woman earlier declared dead in the fresh bomb blast that hit Jalingo, the Taraba State capital on Friday night has been revived. Read previous story here. The spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shuaibu, confirmed in an SMS to PUNCH on Saturday afternoon that the woman did not die afterall, but collapsed after the blast occurred in Mallam Joda area of the state capital on Friday night near the Nigerian Television Authority station.

The SMS reads, “Apology: It has been confirmed that the female victim of last night’s explosion in Jalingo didn’t die but was unconscious and has been revived today. “Others injured were 7 (but) some have been discharged. All previous information remains valid. We regret the reported death of the woman.
Yushau Shuaib, NEMA.”
