Police arrest OPC leader for attempted murder
Ogun State Police command said Friday that it had arrested the coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC in Ifo, identified as Alabede Baaki who allegedly shot a member of the group Haruna Babajide during a charm-trial exercise in Ifo in Ogun state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed this through a press statement sent to journalists Friday in Abeokuta.
According to Adejobi Baaki who claimed to be the OPC leader in Ajowa in Ifo had reported the case to police that one Haruna Babajide was shot by unknown person but, he was however indicted during the investigation by the police.
He said “ Baaki reported that one Haruna Babajide also an OPC member was shot and wounded in the leg by a yeta-to-be identified person and was rushed to a private hospital.
”Investigation however, revealed that the victim was shot by the coordinator himself in a charm-trial exercise”.
The PPRO further stated that, the suspect has been detained and the victim has been transfered to a government hospital.
He said that,a gun was recovered from the suspect and the case has been transfered to the command Headquarters in Eleweran.
The PPRO however told Vanguard that the embattled OPC leader would be charged for attempter murder.
