Fellow Nigerians,

I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the March 28 General Elections. I promised the country free and fair elections. I have kept my word. I have also expanded the space for Nigerians to participate in the democratic process. That is one legacy I will like to see endure.

Although some people have expressed mixed feelings about the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I urge those who may feel aggrieved to follow due process based on our constitution and our electoral laws, in seeking redress.

The Federal Government on Tuesday declared Friday 3rd April, and Monday 6th April as public holidays to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations respectively.

The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, made the declaration in a statement issued on his behalf in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abubakar Magaji.

Delta Court Sentences Man to Death for Stealing Mobile Phone & N10,000

A Delta High Court on Monday sentenced a man to death for allegedly stealing a mobile phone and N10,000.

Bishop Bobby Davis in Connecticut, USA slumped when confessing his extra-marital affair to his congregation this March, according to church members and police sources, states Connecticut Post.

There Won’t Be Movement In All Parts Of Nigeria On Saturday

Nigeria’s presidential election will hold on Saturday, March 28, 2015 and the Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has ordered a restriction on vehicular movements between 8am and 5pm on that very day.

He also says the same restriction will repeat itself on the 11^th of April during the governorship and senatorial elections in the country.

Two women who were struggling over a man decided to take things further when they both planned to throw them selves into a river and see who the man would save first. The man found himself in a sticky situation when his current girlfriend and his ex both threw themselves into a river - to see which one he loved the most.

A Nigerian man was arrested on Wednesday after being caught with 35.115 kilogram of cannabis smuggled in Gala sausage rolls, which he was planning to transport to China.

Man Dies At A Funeral After Drinking Competition

An alcohol-drinking contest has claimed one life and hospitalized two others in a Benin hospital. The deceased, Famous Ogbeide, 25, and three others were drinking different brands of hot drinks at the funeral of their friend’s father.

TheNation reports that he emerged winner in the first and second rounds of the contest, but failed to collect his prize of N4,000 as he died in the hospital. Sources said the contest was initiated by one of the youths at the party. The victim allegedly collapsed by the roadside after gulping the drink. It was also gathered that one of the victims pulled out of the contest when he began to cough and vomit.

A Lagos-based pastor, John Ajayi, on Tuesday pleaded with an Orile Agege Customary Court to dissolve his marriage as a result of his wife’s alleged adultery and desertion.

Jack, 49, told the court that his wife, Christiana had an affair with his pastor-friend whom he invited for a church programme, Daily Independent reports. According to him, Christiana subsequently left their matrimonial home since 2011 and has not returned.

What started out as an argument on Facebook ended in the gruesome death of a 14-year-old girl.

CNN reports that a group of girls in Alabama decided to take their fight off Facebook and engage in physical battle at Birmingham park. They planned to videotape the fight and post it online.

During the fight, two teenage boys emerged, pulled out their guns, and started shooting sporadically at the girls, killing 14-year-old Kierra’onna Rice and wounding two others.

Authorities are speculating that one of the suspects was dating one of the girls who was fighting Kierra’onna.

ISIS Executioner “Jihadi John” Apologizes to his Family for Shame He's Brought Them

ISIS executioner, “Jihadi John,” whose identity was recently revealed as Mohammed Emwazi, has reportedly apologized to his family for the shame he has brought upon them.

The studio wing of the Africa Independent Television (AIT) in Alagbado area of Lagos reportedly caught fire this morning.

Several reports from online news sources state that the cause of the fire is still unknown, however; there were no casualties or injuries.

The fire has now been extinguished, and the degree of damage to the property is reportedly being assessed.

Meet The Honest Airport Cleaner Who Found $27,000 (N5.4m) And Returned It

Meet Josephine Agwu, who works as a cleaner at the Murtala International Airport in Lagos where while cleaning one of the toilets at the airport on January 23rd, found a bag containing $27,000 which is 5.4 million in Naira equivalent. Josephine took the bag to the security post at the airport for an announcement to be made for the owner to come forward & collect it, which was done.

The woman earns just N7,800 as her monthly salary for a 12-hours a day job. Josephine, who is from Enugu state spoke to Vanguard about why she took the decision to return the money.
