Pakistani Bride Forced To Drink Acid Over Insufficient Dowry

How can one force a human being to drink acid because of insufficient dowry payment? I'm sorry but that's just so inhuman. 

According to PM News, a recently married Pakistani woman died after her in-laws forced her to drink acid for bringing what they considered to be insufficient dowry, police said on Tuesday.  The crime occurred Monday in the Daska area of Punjab province.

The US state of Georgia has executed its first woman in 70 years, despite an appeal for clemency by Pope Francis.

Kelly Gissendaner, 47, died by lethal injection at 12:21am (local time) at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, a prison spokeswoman said.

Bride-to-be Sent to Prison 1 Week Before Wedding for Slapping Neighbour

A 33-year-old woman, Olawunmi, was arrested and remanded in prison custody a week to her wedding for slapping her neigbour, Anthony.

According to PM News, she was arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Isolo for the alleged offence.

Rumours of their wedding have been in circulation for months and now Emir of Kano – Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has married Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa, the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo-Musdafa as his fourth wife.

Sa’adatu who recently turned 18 is said to be a secondary school graduate and will be continuing her university education after her wedding.

Lagos Hospital Chains Woman to Urinal Pipe After The Loss Of Her Child

A private medical facility in Lagos, Samaria Hospital, is allegedly keeping a woman hostage over her failure to finish paying up her medical bills.

According to Sahara Reporters, the woman, Jessica Ugwuoke, has been prevented from leaving the hospital since August 12, and has been chained to a urinal pipe to prevent her from escaping.

NDLEA Arrests 6 in Lagos for Swallowing $156,000

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives yesterday arrested a Bureau De Change operator and five other suspected money laundering accomplices for swallowing $156,000  (approximately N31, 083, 000.00) at Excel Oriental Hotel along Airport Road, Lagos.

Vanguard reports that the six suspects were arrested in the hotel, as they were caught in the act  swallowing the large sums of money with the intention of exporting $156,000 to Brazil. 

Explosion Rocks Port Harcourt Gas Plant: 5 Feared Dead

At least 5 people are feared dead after an explosion occurred at a gas plant in the Eliozu area of Port Harcourt on Thursday.

Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Muhammad, confirmed the incident, stating that workers were refilling gas when suddenly the cylinder exploded, Daily Post reports.

Muhammad stated, “I am sure the number will be more than five because I saw some bodies on the ground when the explosion occurred. I was told it was a gas explosion. I hope this is true.”

A Diamond Bank employee has been arrested for alleged fraud, after being accused of transferring a total of N111.2 million, customers’ money, to his family members’ accounts.

The accused, Obioha Okengwu, is said to have conspired with members of his family to defraud the bank, PM News reports.

Aisha Buhari Calls For The Enforcement Of Rape Laws In Nigeria

Wife of President Buhari, Aisha Buhari has called for the enforcement of rape laws in Nigeria. Mrs Buhari made the call at a meeting she had with Ministry of Women Affairs, UNICEF and National Population Commission, led by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Ezekiel Oyemomi at the state house Abuja yesterday September 14th.

“We are aware of the national law on rape passed this year on May 25 (Prohibition Act 2015) which states imprisonment ranging from 12 to 20 years. I advocate for the enforcement of this law at all levels. Unfortunately, children are the most vulnerable, being exploited at different stages of their lives. A number of cases on violence against women and children are being reported on daily basis with the most alarming one of those happening in higher institutions of leaning. These include sexual harassment and assaults of female students by lecturers as a result of lack of laws and appropriate actions against the perpetrators,” she said.

Five years after working together on the movie, Legacy: Black Ops, Idris Elba has reunited with Nigerian born filmmaker, Thomas Ikimi for a new project titled The Crusaders. Written and directed by Thomas Ikimi, Crusaders tells the story of Africans in America who are on a quest to locate stolen artifacts from Africa by the colonialists during the occupation of the continent. 

Thomas Ikimi was born in London in 1979 to Nigerian parents. He however spent a brief part of his growing up days in Lagos before returning to London. He graduated from Columbia University in New york....

Woman Arrested for Biting Off Neighbour’s Nipple During Fight

Good lord! What we hear these days. So, a Lagos-based woman has been arrested for biting off her neighbour's nipple during an argument and swallowing it. 

According to Vanguard, the incident occurred when two women were involved in a fight. 

Reports state that the accused, Bola Olowolagba, was angry because the victim, Adelowo Taiwo, who is a mother of four, held a party and littered the compound and refused to clean up afterwards. What an excuse for a fight.
