Ailing producer, Babatunde Okungbowa popularly known as OJB Jezreel turned 47 years yesterday. OJB’s birthday seems to have stirred a momentum as there are reports of a series of donations that have been coming in since last night.
Head of the fund raising committee, Nomoreloss tweeted this morning, ‘I am in shock as more donations are coming in for #OJB seems its no longer SAVE OJB its now CELEBRATE OJB! They say its a BIRTHDAY GIFT!’ Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s surprise donation of a $100,000 on the eve of OJB’s birthday is perhaps the best birthday gift the songwriter and singer could ever have wished for. This was disclosed by the head of the fund raising committee, Muyiwa Osinuga aka Nomoreloss, who disclosed that the government of Rotimi Amaechi has finally reached out to the committee with a pledge to foot the entire bill for the transplant.
He said, ‘Officials of the government reached out to us this evening, (Wednesday, June 3) promising to donate a $100,000. The presentation, they say, will be made on Friday (June 5). We are indeed grateful to the Governor and the people of Rivers State. Now we can finally have that surgical procedure’.
The singer further thanked Nigerians for their support. ‘We also appreciate the kind hearts of Nigerians who have made donations and those that supported us with prayers. May God bless them all’. Happy belated birthday OJB and may God grant you many more years.
