Former Directer Of Central Bank Shot Dead In Owerri



The Imo State Police command said yesterday that investigation into the murder of a former director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Chief Charles Nwosu has commenced.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Vitalis Onugu, who spoke with Daily Trust in Owerri, said the former CBN official was shot along Douglas road, Owerri last Sunday, by unidentified gunmen, adding that the command received the report around 10.am of the same day. He said Chief Nwosu was driving in his car when the gunmen shot him.



The PPRO called on members of the public to assist the police with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

In another development, a serving permanent secretary to the deputy governor of Imo State, Arch.Emenike Ihekwoaba, was yesterday kidnapped by gunmen in Owerri.
The Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor, Sir Onyema Opara, confirmed the incident, saying the Permanent Secretary was kidnapped on his way to his home town for a function in company of his wife.
