Psquare, Wizkid, Vector emerge top winners at the Headies 2012

The 2012 edition of one of Africa’s most prestigious entertainment awards shows, The Headies took place on Saturday, October 20, 2012, hosted by singer Omawumi and rapper M.I. The show took place at the expo hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites for the third time in a row. The coveted ‘Next Rated’ award which comes with the special prize of a Hyundai Sonata was won by none other than Davido, who has had a fantastic run in the last year – releasing three number-one singles and subsequently a debut album – ‘Omo Baba Olowo: The Genesis‘. Highlights of the show were the live band performances from Bez and Praiz, who rendered their duet ‘Stupid song‘, Timi Dakolo who gripped the audience with his ‘Great nation’ song, and surprisingly rookies Burna Boy and Dammy Krane.



Afrobeat maestro, Femi Kuti, who was billed to be inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame’ and perform for the first time at a Nigerian awards show was absent. The show however ended on a high note, with the EME all stars - Banky W, Wizkid, Skales, Niyola, Shaydee and DJ Xclusive delivering a heavy performance.
